Beginning Band

Our Beginning Band is for students with little to no musical experience on a band instrument. The Beginning Band gives our beginning students an opportunity to play in an organized ensemble along with their independent practice and private lessons.

Concert Band (Intermediate Band)

Our Concert Band is our intermediate band. This band is appropriate for students who have been playing a band instrument and taking private instrumental instruction for a minimum of six months. Seating placement is by audition.

Symphonic Band (Advanced Band)

Our Symphonic band is our advanced band. This band is comprised of more advanced players that have been playing for 2-3 years and have developed a greater level of proficiency on their instruments. Seating placement is by audition.

Jazz Band

Our Jazz Band is a specialized ensemble for highly proficient advanced students interested in expanding their skills into a different genre of music. Candidates are required to participate in the Concert or Symphonic Bands in order to be eligible to participate in Jazz Band. Seating placement is by audition.

Brass and Woodwind Quintets and Special Ensembles

These specialized groups are made available to advanced players who seek a more challenging outlet for their abilities. Candidates are required to participate in the Concert or Symphonic Bands in order to be eligible to participate in these ensembles. Seating placement is by audition.

The KCYB Concert Band received an Excellent rating in this year's Music in the Park.

The KCYB Symphonic Band received a Superior rating, and took FIRST PLACE in the AAA class.
We also received the BEST OVERALL Highschool Band award!
