KCYB Band Aide Duties

1.                  Arrive 20 minutes before rehearsal begins.  Make immediate contact with the band director to offer your assistance.

2.                  Locate your band aide folder in the filing cabinet in the room the Symphonic Band rehearses in (the room with the blue chairs).  The folders are in the second drawer of the filing cabinet that is closest to the door.  If you need help, locate Mrs. Graham or Mrs. Laughon.

3.                  Set up band room according to the seating chart, asking for student’s help.  This may include moving chairs, stands and percussion equipment to or from another room.

4.                  Make copies as needed for the director (instructions for photocopier usage will be in your folder).

5.                  Take role during the band warm-up time at the beginning of rehearsal.  Note whether the student is present, absent or tardy (not in his/her seat when rehearsal begins).  The role sheet for your band is in the band aide folder.

6.                  Stay in the room, assisting the director as he/she requests.  If needed, help with behavior problems, instruments problems or anything else that will help make the rehearsal run smoothly and efficiently.

7.                  If a break is given to the students, again offer to help the director.  If none is needed, then please walk the hallways and rehearsal areas and monitor student behavior (a copy of the Behavior Contract is in the band aide folder).

8.                  If all of these activities do not keep you busy, please helpwith the KCYB music library.  See your director for more information on this long-term project.  This should be done in the band rehearsal room, with priority given to assisting the director.

9.                  At the end of rehearsal, help the director (with student assistance) to return chairs, music stands, and percussion equipment to their original locations before you leave.  This may include returning chairs, stands or percussion equipment to another room.

10.             Check the hospitality room to see that it is clean and in order.

Return your band aide folder as follows:   place your folder in the 2nd drawer of the KCYB filing cabinet in the room with the blue chairs (where Symphonic Band rehearses).
